Job Description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are looking for a motivated and technically adept Product Manager to lead the design and development of custom software solutions for Rivian’s Finance and Accounting organization. In this role, you will partner deeply with Finance stakeholders to understand complex operational workflows, identify pain points, and build scalable tools that improve accuracy, speed, and visibility across financial operations. This role will be located in Atlanta, GA and report to our Sr. Staff Product Manager.

Responsibilities

Finance Domain Expertise & User Research:

  • Become the subject matter expert for Finance and Accounting workflows at Rivian, including but not limited to accounts payable/receivable, treasury, financial close, reporting, forecasting, and compliance processes.
  • Conduct deep user research with finance stakeholders, gathering qualitative and quantitative feedback to uncover pain points, inefficiencies, and unmet needs.
  • Map existing workflows to identify manual processes, data silos, and opportunities to drive automation and accuracy improvements.

Product Vision, Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Define and champion a clear product vision and roadmap for Finance & Accounting tools that aligns with Rivian’s strategic objectives around operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and compliance.
  • Make a compelling case for changes, secure cross-functional stakeholder buy-in, and communicate product strategy clearly to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead the product strategy end-to-end with limited supervision, focusing on high-level objectives that advance broader organizational goals.

Custom Solution Design & Product Delivery:

  • Translate Finance user needs into detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to prioritize features that eliminate data silos and reduce manual effort.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle — from discovery through development, testing, and launch — ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of custom-built finance tools.
  • Oversee integration with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), financial data platforms, and third-party tools to create seamless workflows for the Finance team.
  • Manage multiple inputs and deliverables simultaneously, understanding connections between financial systems and broader business workstreams.

Data-Driven Optimization & AI/ML:

  • Leverage data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, track key performance metrics (e.g., close cycle time, error rates, process throughput), and drive continuous optimization.
  • Research and evaluate AI/ML opportunities to automate repetitive finance processes, improve forecasting accuracy, detect anomalies, and enhance decision-making for finance leadership.
  • Clearly communicate expectations and carefully track progress to ensure standards are met at a systematic level — keeping work on track across sprints and quarters.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, finance, accounting, and IT to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
  • Build strong influence within the function and across teams; seek to understand different perspectives and proactively resolve conflicts.
  • Drive adoption of new tools and features by collaborating with Finance leadership and end users, developing change management plans and success metrics.

Qualifications

  • 4–7+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated experience building and scaling internal tools or operational systems. Proven ability to develop plans and strategies using pattern recognition, work independently, and demonstrate autonomy in execution.
  • Proven ability to exceed goals in your own function, lead projects with diverse stakeholders, and independently improve deliverables across a team.
  • Experience working with Finance, Accounting, or business operations teams as internal customers is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and financial data workflows is a significant plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • User-centric approach: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles; passion for creating intuitive, user-friendly experiences for non-technical finance users.
  • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum), APIs, data pipelines, and integration patterns between enterprise systems.
  • Data-driven mindset: Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform product decisions, define KPIs, and measure success.
  • Excellent communication: Ability to clearly articulate complex financial and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and influence: Ability to drive consensus, influence without authority, and motivate cross-functional teams toward ambitious goals.
  • Accountability: Communicates clear expectations, tracks progress on performance standards, and reports proactively on key initiatives.
