Job Description

Salary: $125,000 - 145,000 per year Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Expected to graduate with a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree in 2026 or 2027.
  • Proven expertise in C++, Rust, or other systems programming languages.
  • Experience in creating or working with real-time embedded systems or distributed computing frameworks.
  • Strong emphasis on designing, architecting, and implementing high-quality, bug-free software.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems using first-principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while taking on significant responsibilities and accountability for software results.
  • Background in a dynamic engineering organization or in a technical role that required resourceful and entrepreneurial approaches to achieving goals under tight deadlines or budget constraints.
  • Track record of success in competitive environments, such as achievements in engineering, mathematics, or science competitions, attaining top scores in academic assessments, or similar intellectual accomplishments.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, demonstrating significant work or academic achievements in diverse fields.
  • Displayed rapid development in career, advancing through roles of increasing responsibility and achieving significant accomplishments early in professional journey.
  • Strong academic record from a reputable institution: minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher, standardized test scores in the 95th percentile, or being a merit-based scholarship recipient.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Active clearance may enable opportunities to work on sensitive SpaceX missions, subjecting you to pre-employment drug screening and random testing.
Responsibilities:
  • Engage in a dynamic role utilizing your best skills to contribute to building high-performance flight hardware.
  • Create highly reliable autonomous software systems and the simulations needed for validation.
  • Oversee all phases of software development, from design through testing to mission integration.
  • Collaborate with engineering counterparts to develop and sustain launch and vehicle software.
  • Experience firsthand the realization of ambitious ideas as we evolve from hardware development to actual flight of reusable rockets and deployment of complex satellites.
