Job Description



The Global Communications Manager role is responsible for leading and executing the internal and external communications strategy for our Global Business Services (GBS) organization. This role will create, direct, and implement integrated messaging and communication plans and strategies that effectively engage internal GBS and AECOM audiences—including employees, customers, and partners—across all digital and in-person channels.

This role is also expected to protect, promote, and enhance AECOM’s brand and reputation, support the organization in delivering strong results, align storytelling with key business priorities, and highlight how GBS drives growth, operational excellence, and measurable value while elevating the experience of AECOM’s people and customers. The role supports the business in delivering strong results through storytelling aligned to key business priorities, elevating leadership visibility, enriching the employee and candidate experience, and spotlighting the value GBS brings to AECOM.

This will be a hybrid position including a combination of both remote and in-office, that can be based in, but not limited to: Dallas, TX

Strategic Communications Planning:

  • Leads global communication strategy development for GBS, aligned to enterprise goals and business outcomes.
  • Translate complex business objectives into clear, compelling messaging that supports organizational alignment and business outcomes.
  • Ensures communication strategies are inclusive, transparent, and measurable.
  • Assumes accountability for communication plans, including deliverables, and sees through to completion execution of content to plan.

Internal Communications:

  • Drive the development and delivery of engaging, consistent, and clear communications across GBS globally to foster awareness, alignment, and adoption of programs, policies, and cultural initiatives.
  • Maintain clarity, consistency, and alignment of messaging across all internal channels to strengthen understanding and engagement.
  • Create content for seniors leaders, ensuring to capture their personal voice and tone, while also driving consistent messaging across the GBS.

Customer Communications:

  • Partner closely with GBS leadership to develop clear, transparent communications for internal customers that align with our vision to drive operational excellence and deliver measurable value.
  • Ensure stakeholder feedback loops are established, customer feedback is addressed by the appropriate GBS leader, and that we are consistently closing out feedback as received.

Leadership & Change Communications:

  • Collaborate with GBS leadership to develop and deliver compelling executive messaging, strategic updates, leadership announcements, and impactful town hall communications.
  • Crafts compelling executive messages, leadership announcements, and strategic town halls.
  • Elevates the visibility and authenticity of GBS leaders through personalized communication strategies.

Branding & Positioning:

  • Strengthen and elevate the GBS brand both internally and externally by showcasing its impact, innovation, and strategic value through compelling storytelling, success narratives, targeted campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives.

Channels & Content Management:

  • Manage and continuously optimize internal communication channels—including intranet, newsletters, digital signage, and video—to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Lead the development of high-quality content such as articles, speeches, videos, and presentations that align with strategic priorities.
  • Promotes innovation in communication strategies and tools, identifying opportunities to enhance experience and effectiveness.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with HR, Corporate Communications, Site Leaders, and Functional Leads to ensure cohesive and integrated messaging.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Facilitate two-way communication by encouraging feedback loops and measuring communication effectiveness to continuously improve engagement.
  • Connects team priorities with client needs, ensuring communication supports strong relationships and service excellence.
  • Champions ethical communication practices and reinforces AECOM values across all initiatives.

 Team Management and Coaching:

  • Assess team member skillsets and engage them in content creation, stakeholder management, web development and other areas to support the overall communications strategy for GBS
  • Provide direct feedback on delivery of outputs and deliver coaching to help them to meet their goals
  • Set development plans and manage team member performance to plan

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in corporate communications, preferably in a global shared service, GBS, or multinational organization, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity within a global or matrixed organization.
  • Proven experience in leading internal and executive communications in complex, matrixed environments
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Strong understanding of change management and employee engagement principles
  • Experience with communication tools such as SharePoint, MS Teams, and video editing platforms is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across time zones and geographies
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and navigate ambiguity with a solutions-oriented minds
