Job Description

We are seeking a General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a high-volume retail garden center.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving store performance, merchandising strategy, customer experience, and team development across multiple departments. You will work closely with ownership to grow revenue, improve operational consistency, and create a destination retail experience.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can balance big-picture strategy with floor-level execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all retail operations, including sales performance, merchandising, and customer experience
• Lead and develop store managers, supervisors, and frontline teams
• Design and execute merchandising strategies to drive foot traffic and increase average ticket value
• Monitor daily sales, staffing, and operational performance across departments
• Enhance the in-store customer experience through layout, service standards, and training
• Partner with ownership on business strategy, seasonal planning, and growth initiatives
• Manage inventory flow, product assortment, and seasonal transitions
• Build a strong, accountable team culture focused on service and results
• Identify operational gaps and implement systems and process improvements

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in retail management (garden center, landscaping supply, or similar preferred)
• Proven experience leading teams in a customer-facing retail environment
• Strong background in merchandising, product presentation, and sales strategy
• Experience managing multiple departments or store functions
• Track record of improving customer experience and driving revenue growth
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
• Comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced retail setting
• Experience with inventory management, staffing, and daily operations
