About the Role

The Director, Communications will lead corporate communications strategy for a late clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing innovative therapies in metabolic and liver diseases. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive communications strategy across corporate, clinical, digital, media, and internal channels as the organization transitions into a late-stage development company.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and partnering closely with Investor Relations, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Human Resources, this leader will ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging for employees, investors, media, and external stakeholders.

This is a high-visibility role requiring strong strategic thinking, exceptional writing skills, and experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical corporate communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with corporate priorities and clinical milestones.
  • Lead external and internal communications initiatives to ensure consistent, clear messaging across all channels.
  • Collaborate with medical and clinical teams to support clinical data releases, regulatory updates, and medical conference communications.
  • Oversee company website content strategy, ensuring timely updates related to research, pipeline progress, and corporate developments.
  • Draft and manage press releases, executive communications, corporate presentations, annual reports, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Research, Regulatory, and Investor Relations to align messaging calendars and key announcements.
  • Support investor communications in collaboration with Investor Relations leadership.
  • Develop internal communications strategies to foster employee engagement and transparency.
  • Support crisis communications planning and reputation management initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers.
  • Prepare executive leadership for public engagements, media interactions, and conference presentations.
  • Manage external communications agencies and ensure quality and alignment of deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • 8+ years of corporate communications experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
  • Strong understanding of clinical development, regulatory milestones, and investor communications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic communications plans and executing across multiple platforms.
  • Experience managing communications agencies.
  • Experience maintaining and updating corporate websites and digital channels.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations for public biotechnology companies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience preparing executive-level materials and presentations.
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Communications, Business, or Life Sciences.
  • Experience supporting communications in late-stage clinical development environments.
  • Experience in public company communications or investor-facing messaging.
  • Background in metabolic disease, hepatology, or related therapeutic areas.
