LogisticsWork Environment:

This full-time position at our Midlands (Columbia) Branch involves extended desk work, frequent computer use, and occasional daytime travel. Good vision, mobility, and awareness of warehouse hazards are essential. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

A Day in the Life:

The Community Food Engagement Coordinator is r esponsible for identifying, qualifying, and managing a food drive portfolio with an emphasis on ensuring that as many pounds of food as possible are sourced for various programs at HHFB. The Community Food Engagement Coordinator will focus on all aspects of relationship management including growing the food drive participants knowledge of the organization, involvement, and financial support. Duties include, but are not limited to, personal meetings, tours, food drive engagement events, and other methods of cultivation food drive partnerships. This position will be responsible for meeting an annual poundage target by working with an assigned portfolio of existing food drive partners and prospects, including schools, churches, corporations, civic organizations, and others as identified by HHFB. This position will be responsible for coordinating pickups from donors whether it is the warehouse driver or the food drive employee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of 150 existing and potential food drive sponsors.
  • Qualifies identified prospective and current sponsors.
  • Creates poundage goals for each drive in their portfolio based on the sponsor's history of giving.
  • Creates a plan with timeline for each food drive in their portfolio that is based on principles of donor-driven relationship building.
  • Executes food drive plans such that groups in the portfolio are retained and/or upgraded in the future.
  • Creates offers, proposals, and asks that will provide opportunities for other volunteerism based on personal interests and passion for specific aspects of the mission.
  • Works with Food Sourcing and Acquisition Manager to create reports as required to accurately reflect portfolio activity and performance.
  • Meets established food raising goals to support organizational needs.
  • Performs ongoing statistical analysis and revenue benchmarking to evaluate the overall growth and performance in focus area.
  • Actively manages the day-to-day relationships with food drive sponsors and prospects through various activities including meetings, phone calls, letters, reports, emails, timely responses to donor inquiries and acknowledgements of gifts.
  • Log contact reports to the donor database(s).
  • Passionately represents Harvest Hope Food Bank's mission, programs, and message with stakeholders and actively networks within the community to activate support behind our mission.
  • Performs other food raiser/development activities as may be required (i.e., tours, public speaking, or spokesperson activities).
  • Serves as a community ambassador/spokesperson as needed.

To Qualify for this Position, you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related study: preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience working in nonprofit development or other related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating and soliciting prospects for donations.
  • Self-starter, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer service skills; comfortable with public speaking and cold calling.
  • Ability to pick up 30 pounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate HHFB's mission.
  • Ability to relate effectively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives and the public.
