Job Summary:

Clinically trained Chaplain responsible for providing spiritual care to our primary customers, partners, and team members. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs of patients, team members, visitors, families and volunteers, and providing appropriate interventions to meet such needs. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Trust, experience of Belonging, and a future of Hope within the hospital and the healthcare team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

THIS FULL-TIME POSITION IS FOR THE OVERNIGHT SHIFT and will cover both hospital campuses in Palm Coast.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

Personal commitment to God.  Personal integrity, emotional stability, sound physical health, and an ability to work under stress. Effectively relates to persons of diverse religious, educational, and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrates ability to earn respect of nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Required:

• Master of Divinity degree (72-credit hour minimum)
• Minimum of four units of ACPE, Inc. accredited Clinical Pastoral Education
• Ordination/licensure as minister in good standing 

Preferred:

• Congregational pastoral experience
• Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains

Job Responsibilities:

• Adheres to both the FL Conference and AdventHealth working policies.
• Assesses spiritual needs of patients, team members and visitors and provides appropriate interventions with consideration to growth development needs and age group.
• Receives referrals from all members of the healthcare team, visits and charts on these referrals promptly, no later than 24-hrs.
• Responds to all Crisis Codes and Emergency Calls immediately, within 5 minutes.
• Attend to all Deaths within the hospital during the shift.
• Coordinates/confers with other Pastoral Care Team Members to communicate patient and staff needs.
• Develops a pastoral care plan for patients by identifying objectives, interventions and desired outcomes.
• Participates in patient care, and as needed, multi-disciplinary rounding and discharge planning process.
• Communicates appropriate information to the interdisciplinary team through appropriate charting on the Spiritual Care form in the electronic medical record.
• The Chaplain Team educates hospital staff on the role and function of the chaplain.
• The Chaplain Team facilitates community relationships for the Hospital as needed.
• Assists in the education of Clinical Pastoral Education residents and interns as needed.
• Available for occasional on-call duty (weekends, holidays) as scheduled by the Director/Manager of Pastoral Care.
