  • Full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping

The Role

We are seeking a Bookkeeping Associate to support the accounting operations of multiple startup clients across the United States and Canada.

This role is critical in ensuring that financial records are accurate, timely, and audit-ready , creating the foundation for deeper financial analysis and strategic advisory work. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote, and technology-driven environment .

You will work closely with Accounting Associates, Controllers, and client stakeholders to maintain strong financial systems and support the financial health of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Client Bookkeeping Operations

  • Perform full-cycle accrual bookkeeping for multiple client accounts simultaneously.

  • Review, analyze, and record transactions across various platforms including e-commerce, billing, and payment systems.

  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure proper classification of transactions.

Accounts Payable Management

  • Prepare, review, and process accounts payable transactions .

  • Maintain vendor records and ensure timely and accurate payments.

Financial Reconciliation

  • Prepare monthly reconciliation reports for client accounts.

  • Review bookkeeping entries and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy.

  • Ensure reconciliation documentation supports all balance sheet accounts.

Client Support & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for bookkeeping-related inquiries .

  • Proactively identify financial discrepancies, reporting gaps, or operational changes impacting bookkeeping.

  • Communicate clearly with clients and internal team members regarding financial updates.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Accounting Associates and Controllers to ensure transactions align with each client’s financial goals and reporting requirements.

  • Support broader finance initiatives including reporting improvements and process optimization.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate tools, workflows, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Contribute to improving best practices across the organization’s accounting processes.

Compliance & Confidentiality

  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial information.

  • Ensure all financial records follow compliance and reporting standards.

  • Financial data is delivered on time and ready for higher-level analysis

  • Clients receive prompt, professional communication and bookkeeping support

  • Accounting workflows become more efficient through automation and improved processes

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience

  • Experience supporting multiple clients or high-growth environments is preferred

  • Comfortable working in a fully remote team environment

Accounting & Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

  • Accrual accounting principles

  • Financial reconciliations

  • Accounts payable processes

  • General ledger management

Hands-on experience with cloud accounting tools such as:

  • Xero

  • Dext

  • Expensify

  • Shopify

  • Stripe

  • PayPal

  • or similar financial technology platforms
