MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Physics/Mathematics Teacher to serve students in Grades 7–12. This position includes teaching mathematics courses aligned with the Saxon Math program, as well as high school Physics at the college-preparatory, honors, and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) level.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both mathematics and physics, and the ability to deliver rigorous, engaging instruction that combines conceptual understanding with practical application through labs, demonstrations, and discussion-based learning.
Implement the Mathematics curriculum using Saxon Math and, where applicable, IB coursework
Teach Physics to upper-level high school students, incorporating lectures, labs, demonstrations, and hands-on activities
Deliver instruction with clear, measurable learning objectives aligned to curriculum standards
Assess student progress regularly, including grading assignments, lab work, exams, and providing progress reports and report cards
Monitor and evaluate student performance in both mathematics and physics, using data to inform instruction
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
Foster a structured, supportive classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Mathematics and Science departments to align curriculum and share best practices
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
Support students through extra help sessions and academic interventions as needed
Supervise and ensure the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and materials
Assist with standardized testing and exam proctoring
Participate in school duties such as lunch/recess supervision, study hall, or class coverage
Support additional academic programming, including MCAS preparation when needed
Contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related field required
Physics MTEL required (or ability to obtain within one year)
Strong content knowledge in both mathematics and physics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team environment
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach
Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals
This position reports to the Mathematics Department Chair
Annual appointment with yearly performance evaluation
